We all know an effective study space is the best way to concentrate and focus on working. But sometimes this can be the hardest thing to find, so we’ve prepared a handy list of places that may prove useful!
1. Libraries
Students find libraries a hit or miss – while they’re great for resources, you can sometimes find yourself distracted when you spot an old friend or classmate.
Hurstville Library – Situated a convenient 10 minute walk from The Brain’s Hurstville centre, this library has a silent section but unfortunately packs out fairly quickly. Our tip – get there at opening time to avoid the crowd!
State Library of NSW – Less than 5 minutes from Martin Place train station, this is yet another hub for HSC students who are determined to work without distractions. If you really want to get serious about studying, check out the Mitchell Library Reading Room!
Ultimo Library – This is perhaps the best-kept secret of many students who attend school in the hustle and bustle of the CBD. While smaller than the previous two suggestions, it’s a haven for those who need peace and quiet to work.
University of Technology Library and UNSW Library – University libraries have become quite popular over the recent years, with high school students replacing university students in their own libraries! But be warned, not only is it hard to find seats, but some university libraries (such as UTS) require a visitor’s pass before you’re let in.
2. Cafes
It’s no wonder that more and more students are heading to small cafes for their study sessions; after all, who doesn’t love a snack when you’re studying? Just make sure that you don’t get too distracted by the menu – think of them as rewards for finishing that past paper!
Charlie Lovett – This café has huge tables for you set up your study space, and a wide variety of coffees to keep you stimulated as you’re powering through your notes.
Tom N Tom’s – Known as Korea’s answer to Starbucks, this chain has two locations in the CBD: one near Central Station, another near Town Hall Station. While both are great for studying, the Central location is significantly bigger, boasting two levels where you can work to your heart’s content!
3. The Brain
Call us biased, but one of the best places you can find yourself studying is The Brain! We have more than 20 classrooms, perfect for both group and solo study sessions during off-peak hours. All you have to do is ask our friendly student services if there’s a room free for you to study in!
Ultimately, the most crucial element of your study space is yourself. The proper mindset will do wonders in improving your productivity and efficiency. Once you’ve got that sorted, the world is your oyster!
