Our students

Where are they now?

Starting off as students at The Brain, eventually becoming Brain mentors and now unleashing their potential, ready to take on the world!

  • Rena Cao

Rena is the kind of person who knows the balance between a social life and academia. After duxing North Sydney Girls in 2013, Rena decided that covering herself in scrubs was the way to go - now she is studying medicine at UNSW.

  • Aidan Tan

Whilst studying at Sydney Technical High, Brain helped Aidan place 2nd in the state for Economics in 2013! Despite his business instincts, he has gone on to pursue his passion for medicine at UNSW.

  • Lily Zhang

Ever since she was a student here, Lily has always had a smile on her face. Now a receptionist and a tutor at the Brain, she's helping our staff and students better understand information processing and technology!

  • Ricky Chan

Ricky has been mentoring our English and Economics students since 2013. When he isn’t avoiding his Law degree at USYD or roasting other Brain staff members, he’s secretly busy becoming a pilot!

  • Jessica Shao

Jessica was one of our top English students within her cohort. Now, if she's not mentoring our English students, you’ll find her learning Spanish or spending time with her Law friends at a mooting competition.

  • Daniel Liu

Despite spending most of his time becoming a musical instrument, Daniel still state ranked in Latin! Alongside being a mentor at the Brain, he has decided to pursue medicine at university.

  • Clara Chow

When she isn’t socialising with her friends or her twin brother, Clara is busy behind the books as a UNSW Co-op (Accounting) student busting out the figures. Her undying energy and curiousity always brightens up the room!

  • William Baxter

Despite always complaining that there isn't enough space for him in the classrooms, William still manages to teach his students about perfect parabolas purely through displaying his biceps. There is no doubt, he is quite mathsive.

  • Waylon Lu

We sometimes confuse Waylon as one of the students, but don’t worry - challenge him to any math question and he’ll have you covered. If he hasnt slept through 10 alarms, he is at UNSW studying B Com/Sci.

  • Ananda Charming

With the help of Brain tutors, Ananda scored almost full marks in her English Extension 2 major work in her HSC. If she’s not working at the Brain or IBM, she’ll be planning her next trip overseas or eating everything in her sight.

  • James Yang

Despite scoring 20/20 for his assessment for Hamlet, James decided to pursue his passion for mathematics. You can find him on the UNSW Dean’s list or tucked away in his office at University of Sydney completing his PhD.

  • Vanessa Jan

If there’s someone complaining about the struggles of University, you can count on it to be Vanessa. However, when it comes to her teaching, the only thing she complains about is how she can’t dedicate all of her time and effort towards her students.

  • Jennifer Zin

The Brain helped Jennifer unleash her charisma and passion for English. Although Jen may seem to focus a lot of attention on all things politics-related, she also enjoys being one of our senior English mentors.

  • Catherine Zin

Catherine is the nicest and bubbliest person you will ever meet. A previous English student at the Brain and now one of our faces at Student Services always willing to help!

  • Vivian Do

Although her university days are over, Vivian never likes to stand still. After mentoring our Chemistry students for a couple of years, Vivian has applied her psychology background to human resources management.

  • Hugh Huang

As one of the oldest tutors at the Brain, Hugh has helped students unlock their potential. Whilst he has entered the corporate world, he continues to teach our mathematics students.

  • Christine Cheng

When Christine’s not commenting on how hungry she is, she is instinctively putting the needs of others above herself as a primary school teacher.

  • Julie Zhu

After graduating from North Sydney Girls, Julie decided to undergo a Bachelor of Commerce and Science. She has been imparting her love for science and math upon our primary school students.

  • Kelvin Wang

When Kelvin isn't playing Oz tag, you can find him at UNSW sketching his next design for his Bachelor of Civil Engineering and Architecture.

  • Jessica Bui

You can find Jessica at the Brain with a pen in one hand and a box of KFC in the other. After graduating from North Sydney Girls, she's entered UNSW to undertake a Bachelor of Commerce and Media.
