Brain Train

Keep that Spring in your Step

After these holidays, it’s your last term: your last shot! Use the break to get on top of your work and prepare in advance for your yearly exams/HSC.

Haven’t touched your Latin textbook since April? Now’s a great time to dig it out of the bottom of your bag and look over main topics. Start writing your notes before all your subjects begin piling up. Do this for all of your subjects, because you may not be given enough time in class to revisit any content in sufficient detail. While the holidays are perfect for catching up on work, they were also designed to give you a break from it. Take time to do some more enjoyable things too!

  1. Picnic at your local park

Grab a mat, a bunch of friends and bring a plate each. Nothing celebrates the end of winter like a warm day outdoors. Como Pleasure Grounds (less than 10 minutes’ walk from Como Station) and Kogarah Bay offers stunning views and large green spaces, perfect for a spring picnic!

  1. Harness your inner foodie

Spring is great weather for eating out, particularly surrounded by plants and flowers! Take a trip to the Grounds of Alexandria, where you can try the trendiest food in a garden setting, all within the convenience of the City. Or if you want something closer to Hurstville, Culture Bean has super healthy Acai bowls or The Picnic (if you attend our Burwood location) for brunch.

  1. Exercise that winter laziness away

Spent too many hours lying underneath 3 layers of blankets this winter? Now is your chance to shake it all off with some well-needed exercise! Hurstville Aquatic Centre will be holding free Basketball Camps these holidays in late September (booking out quickly). Or join a gym that allows you to bring a friend for free (depends on membership) like Crunch!

Whatever you do, don’t stay cooped inside and take advantage of the amazing weather.
